Originally called Math Day, the Manitoba Math Challenge(MMC) was founded in the 2014 and joined CSSMA in 2015. The MMC is a fun day of math for high school students in Manitoba, and consists of a competition and an activity portion. It's main purpose is to give students who enjoy math a chance to meet with like-minded peers and for them to work on challenging but interesting math problems together, as well as for them to experience problem solving as a team and presenting their solutions.

The problems posed in the MMC have a focus on creative mathematical thinking as well as the application of mathematics to solve problems. The MMC also values communication and presentation of mathematics, therefore the competition portion of the day requires participants to present their solutions rather than just writing them.

The MMC is hosted in March of every year. For details on what mathematical topics the Manitoba Math Challenge competitions cover and do not cover, please visit this site!
